In spectacular fashion, Shohei Ohtani hit his 30th home run out of the park, passing the roof at Dodger Stadium. The megastar’s 30th literally dropped jaws in the Dodgers dugout, in the stands and in the press booth.
“I’ve never seen the ball go that far,” revealed Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw. “I’ve never seen that from a leftie.” To the amazement of everyone at Dodger Stadium and those lucky enough to catch it on television, the left-handed designated hitter absolutely crushed the ball: Ohtani’s 30th reached a staggering 473 feet at 116.7 mph.
It was an amazing day of home runs for the Dodgers. In their July 21 game that swept the Boston Red Sox, Ohtani was the fifth Dodgers homer. He followed Freddie Freeman, Gavin Lux, Teoscar Hernandez and Austin Barnes. Jason Heyward would later hit the sixth homer for LA.
Dodgers honored Shohei Ohtani’s 30th home run in a stunning graphic on social media. The Japanese megastar is now the first National League player to reach 30 home runs, noted MLB. “His fourth straight season with 30+ homers.” Ohtani was beaming ear to ear, celebrating in the Dodgers Dugout, high-fiving all his teammates. “It’s a home run in 30/30 parks,” posted the Home Run Report with a STATCAST graphic that illustrates the unforgettable Ohtani hit off a Red Sox cutter ball.
