Bobbleheads to Shohei Ohtani Day: ShoTime’s historical month of May

The past month for Shohei Ohtani could not have been written better if it were a movie. Ohtani had his first Dodgers bobblehead night, drawing record crowds. The next day, the city of Los Angeles honored him with a “Shohei Ohtani Day.” As expected, the megastar also slayed on the field. The Dodgers designated hitter had 27 hits, 15 runs, 16 RBIs, eight stolen bases and six home runs. Plus, Ohtani had his very first walk-off win as a Dodger. (All stats are at press time since there is still one game left on May 31 against the Colorado Rockies.) Whew, what a month our favorite baseball player has had!

The City of Los Angeles honored the global superstar, declaring May 17 as “Shohei Ohtani Day.” The date honors his Dodgers jersey number, 17. Ohtani marked the milestone in pure ShoTime style. He hit 2 RBIs and crushed the ball once again with a home run as Dodgers fans erupted in celebration. What a way to usher in “Shohei Ohtani Day.” To top it off, the baseball phenom achieved his first walk-off hit with the Dodgers just two days later, making the fans in the stands and his teammates jump for joy. Can we just call May 2024 Shohei Ohtani month?
