The megastar slugger has made history once again with his 8th homer this season. Shohei Ohtani now surpasses his own manager Dave Roberts with the most home runs of a Japanese-born Dodger player.
Ohtani broke the L.A. record in a packed Dodger Stadium as enthralled fans watched history being made again by the superstar. Ohtani made his 8th home run on a victorious May 4 game against top National League rival Atlanta Braves with a runaway score of 11-2.
Just the week before, Shohei tied with Roberts who jokingly asked for a car as a celebration gift. Ohtani, ever the jokester, obliged and gave his manager a Porsche, a toy Porsche. After surpassing Roberts’ seven home run record, former Dodger pitcher and current sportscaster Orel Hershisher quipped, “Maybe he’ll get a real car now.”
