Shohei Ohtani making history has became a regular thing. Why would anyone think the 2024 All-Star Game be any different?
The global megastar is now the only player in MLB history to have all of his All-Star team’s RBI AND walks, as reported by OptaSTATS. Even before he got on the field for the highly anticipated game, Ohtani made another kind of MLB history. He was the first MLB player to be a starting designated hitter four years in a row. This is his first year playing for the National League as the top hitter for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Japanese superstar also hit the very first home run of the 2024 All-Star Game. The Ohtani homer was the first one by a Dodger since Mike Piazza in 1996, posted sports commentator Noah Camras. “He’s also the first player in MLB history to hit a home run and earn a win on the mound in his All-Star Game career,” noted Camras. “Ohtani just keeps on making history.” Yes, he does!
